Stratford-upon-Avon Beer Festival

With seventy different beers and up to thirty ciders and perries under the theme of “Shakespeare’s favourites” (ours not his!) this will be the biggest beer festival held within the Shakespeare branch area.

Judging to determine the West Midlands Golden beer of the Year will be held on the Friday night and all six shortlisted beers will be available for general consumption at the festival. Will your choices be in the final competition?

The festival is being held at Stratford Racecourse on June 13th – 14th, and will offer visitors the chance to try locally brewed beers from within the branch such from Patriot Brewery (Whichford), North Cotswolds Brewery (Shipston), Purity Brewery (near Alcester) along with the new Whale Brewery (Brailes).

The Hook Norton dray and horses will be advertising the festival around Stratford itself on the Friday.

The venue is easy to find as there are brown tourist signs to Racecourse on all roads in and around Stratford and full over night camping facilities are available, booking via the racecourse website. There will be a shuttle bus operating from the train station on a first come first served basis.

Further details, including all the intended beers and ciders, are available on the festival website – www.stratfordbeerfestival.org.uk

Look forward to seeing you there and as we are relatively close I hope that you do not feel me to presumptuous in possibly suggesting that it may be an opportunity for a social activity for the branch.

Best wishes,

Lloyd Evans Chairman Shakespeare CAMRA Branch

We should arrive at the entrance driveway to Postlip Hall at around 1945, later leaving at 2330, giving well over three hours for you to enjoy what is on offer.

Remember that it is a ¼ mile walk from the main road where the bus sets down to the entrance itself, down a pot hole riddled lane, so sturdy footwear is recommended, and for anyone who has difficulty walking please let me know when booking and I will arrange with CAMRA for a lift down the driveway for you (genuine cases only please!!!!!).

The cost of this trip will be £18 a head, to include transport and full entry to the festival, as well as a detailed programme and commemorative glass. As is usual, once a firm commitment is made, any no shows on the evening will still be expected to cough up at a later date! Also remember that if you are a current CAMRA member, don’t forget to bring your membership card along to enjoy a free pint!

If you are interested in this trip, simply email me with how many seats you want and where you will be joining the bus. Also, please forward this email to anyone that I may have forgotten to include!

Many thanks for your continued support and I look forward to seeing some of you on the evening.

Kindest regards,

Chris Brooks (Stroud RE Group).

PS. Believe it or not, I have still not moved house, but it is now actually looking like it may take place before the end of the month. Therefore, please do not worry if I do not confirm your seats by email straight away, as I may be without an internet connection for a few days.

PPS. We still have a few seats left on the trip to Pauntley Beer Festival on Saturday 7th June. Just let me know if you now require any seats or want to increase your current booking.
